    • Transform Energy

      Jan 2014 - Jun 2015
Principal Research Scientist for the research project on Torrefaction project

Torrefaction process, a thermo-chemical conversion process to produce Biofuel from Biomass. In the project different agricultural biomass were collected from different districts of Gujarat. I was responsible for chemical testing of biomass samples and thus identifying the best suitable biomass which will yield the desirable biofuel (torrefied pellets) by the torrefaction process. 700 small and medium scale Industries of Gujarat (intensive coal consuming industries) were covered in the study to understand the applicability of torrefied pallets for the replacement of Indonesian and Indian (Lignite) coal. It was concluded by the report that the torrefied biomass can be considered as a renewable replacement to Indonesian coal and it would provide the similar chemical properties. Show less

      Research Collaborator

To provide sustainable technological solutions in the field of clean Energy and water technologies. The immediate focus is to commercialize CAPZ (Clean water at an affordable price with zero discharge) desalination technology, CRT (Carbon Recycling technology) and Hybrid Electric Vehicles for India. Desalination has always been looked as extracting potable water from seawater. Seawater contains 96.5 % freshwater and 3.5 % dissolved salts. Separating 3.5% salt is easier than separating 96.5% fresh water from seawater. But the separation of 3.5% salt does not solve the problem because it is a mixture of salt, and they need to be separated and purified to get individual products of commercial value. CAPZ provides pure drinking water and pure brine from seawater.Carbon pollution was utterly ignored in the past. However, when the smog and deteriorating air quality of Delhi and Beijing was beamed around the world in our TV sets, people realized how vulnerable they are to carbon pollution. But how to eliminate the Carbon emission from our automobiles? The simple answer is to substitute the fossil fuels we use every day such as Petrol and Diesel with Carbon free fuel such as Hydrogen and Electricity. That is what we aim to achieve by our innovation of Hybrid vehicle. Electric and Fuel cell cars can eliminate Carbon emission from our roads, but it will dramatically increase the electricity requirement, which cannot be met by renewable energy sources alone. Eventually, the electricity demand will have to be met by fossil fuels, which will sharply increase CO2 emissions in a short period, thus exacerbating global warming. CRT will address this issue by converting conventional fossil fuel-based power plant into zero carbon emission plant. Show less
