    • Atyati Technologies

      Oct 2006 - Oct 2009
      Chief Operations & Technology Officer

Atyati Technologies was founded to create technology solutions for rural banking. Operations began in Oct-2006. My responsibilities spanned the whole gamut from setting up the first office premises to recruiting the first few programmers, designing the software product, leading its development and steering operations in the early stages. The first two years were an invaluable experience, teaching me how to operate under severe resource contraints – both people related and financial. The company got external funding and also acquired its first customers in mid-2008.The software product, called Ganaseva, supports loans, savings accounts and term/recurring deposits. The application has a front-end module which runs on a mobile device and can be used by a field agent of the bank to initiate off-line transactions. The software can do biometric authentication using digital fingerprints stored on a smartcard kept by the customer.By October 2009, atyati was a well-structured organisation of roughly fifty employees – with independent development, testing, support and implementation teams. The software had been successfully implemented in a few hundred villages for a large PSU bank. As of mid-2012, the software was being used in 6,000+ villages and supported operations for 2.5 million rural account holders across several banks. At that point Atyati was acquired by Genpact.
