      At the Naval Support Facility on Diego Garcia, I served as a broadcaster at the Naval Media Center. I hosted a three-hour morning radio show, playing top 40 hits. The local radio station served as a form of entertainment and provided an additional information channel. I also produced videos and news articles to inform the 2 thousand Sailors and contractors stationed on the island. Diego Garcia, a British Indian Ocean Territory, provides logistic support to operational forces forward deployed to the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf areas of responsibility. Show less

      Aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis, I served in the media department as the editor of the ship's newspaper and the video department supervisor. I managed and directed writing and photography assignments for a five-person staff, leading production of a daily internal newspaper. To support external communications, I produced video news and b-roll packages and wrote press releases, documenting the ship's mission and deployment milestones. I recorded video and shot photos from both Navy aircraft and on an active flight deck. I also scripted, filmed and edited humorous safety videos, designed to train, educate and entertain the crew of approximately 5 thousand Sailors. Show less

      I served as The Pentagon Channel's web content and site manager and as a broadcaster. TPC was the Department of Defense's premier news network, broadcasting in the U.S. and to armed forces around the world. ​I wrote, edited and hosted segments for the channel's Emmy award-winning TV and web programs. I managed the website with annual traffic of more than 1 million visits, led a full site redesign and managed the transition from SD to HD video content. I created and populated a Wordpress blog for the channel that added more than 100 thousand annual visitors. I restructured the web content upload procedures, freeing 2,200 annual working hours for other tasks.I also hosted a popular web series, Command Performance, interviewing and recording troop shout-outs with popular musicians including The Black-eyed Peas, The Goo Goo Dolls, The Zach Brown Band, GWAR and KISS.       I worked as the videography intern in the zoo's communication and outreach office. The staff of eight marketing and public relations professionals develops multi-platform communications programs to support the Zoo's conservation mission to save species .​I produced a multimedia story, highlighting the zoos 'Apps for Apes' program, gaining media attention and leading to a series of follow on stories including Huffington Post, FOX, Yahoo News and others. I shot and edited a video used as part of a permanent static display within the zoo's renovated elephant enclosure. I also produced a series of Valentine's Day video grams called 'Critter Cupids' that were offered as part of a donation incentive program, raising additional funding for the zoo.I sought this internship to deepen my portfolio, gain experience working on a non-military staff and because animal conservation is a passion of mine. Bill Moran, creating an ecosystem of communication products to provide a clear and constant communication link between the Navy's top personnel officer and 320 thousand Sailors affected by his office's policies and programs.I founded and managed the office's social media presence; created a weekly e-mail newsletter; developed and hosted a new vlog series; and produced an array of multimedia products to communicate the details of the office's new policies and program change announcements. ​The Office of the CNP serves as the Navy's single resource for all strategy and policies related to staffing, personnel, and training programs. As a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the CNO is the principal naval adviser to the President and to the Secretary of the Navy on the conduct of war, and all activities of the Department of the Navy.
