    • Diesel Locomotive Works Varanasi

      Jul 2022 - Aug 2022
      Mechanical Engineering Intern

Here, I gained industry exposure for the first time. At that time, I had recently graduated from my first year of college, so while I possessed theoretical knowledge, I lacked practical experience. Sitting inside the locomotive was one of my wishes as a railfan, and simultaneously, I aimed to understand every aspect of the locomotive and rolling stocks.I visited various workshops and attended lectures with railway engineers on welding, ultrasonic testing, and material science. I explored all the sections inside the workshop, including the locomotive frame shop, locomotive testing shop, truck machine shop, and locomotive assembly shop, under the supervision of Arun Kumar Sharma Sir (CEE/LOCO), Mukesh Sir, Mithilesh Sir, Sanjay Sir, and many more. As a production unit, I gained insights into inventory management and the components used in locomotives, such as transformers, traction motors, cooling systems, wheels, axles, etc. I acquired new knowledge and simultaneously understood why BLW states that "Their Locos move the Nation." • Research Design and Standards Organization

      May 2023 - Jun 2023
      Mechanical Design Engineer Intern

Initially, for two weeks, I visited all the directorates of RDSO and understood their working and roles. During this period, I learned how a big organization like RDSO works and how they manage a project. Later for two weeks, I worked at Air Brake Lab under the guidance of Sanjay Sir, Sonu Mam, Janardan Sir, and many more supporting SSEs. All were very supportive and were always ready to explain everything. There I learned about the functioning of the Air brake and how they get tested before their implementation in trains. I also saw the BMBS (Bogie-mounted braking system) and their testing reports. I also designed a hydraulic framework of 60 tonnes load capacity for bogie testing on various path conditions ( like, curved, inclined, and banked paths). I used Solidworks and Stad Pro for the frame design based on the concept of deflection and bending. Show less
