      - Develop high quality internal and external educational programming for Hospice of the Bluegrass, a non-profit organization with over 500 employees serving 750 patients daily in 32 counties across Kentucky.-Provide leadership and direction for the Palliative Care Leadership Center, one of eight nationally recognized centers of excellent for palliative care program development. This center provides business training for health care organizations to develop and expand palliative care programs.- Determine effective and efficient methods to optimize internal communication. - Develop specific communication strategies to engage external constituents. - Direct community integration initiatives and provide global supervision of volunteer programming which includes supervising a director, seven coordinators, a program assistant and 900 community and professional volunteers.- Supervise the student learner experience which includes over 250 students from medicine, nursing, social work and health care administration. - Review academic journals and news media for information related to end-of-life care and disseminate appropriate references to staff and external stakeholders.-Analyze health care data and medical research to educate and inform decision making. - Direct a hospice and palliative medicine library that includes over 5,000 titles, print and electronic journals and e-books.- Write content for publications, website pages and newsletters.- Author a weekly newsletter to ensure employees and external stakeholders are informed on important issues in hospice and palliative care. - Engage health care professionals at the national, regional, state, and local level through presentations on important issues in health care delivery, management, and leadership. Responsibilities included hiring, coaching, on-going employee evaluations, performance improvement plans, and continuing education.-Led a national initiative to improve access to care and quality of care for veterans at end-of- life which received national recognition through the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and Department of Veteran Affairs.-Developed new programs to support hospice patients and families such as oral history recordings and checkup phone calls.-Ensured the volunteer program exceeds all industry standards and regulatory conditions required by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
