Study Abroad Experience- Summer 2019 ENGINEERING

I participated in a two-week engineering design course at Tecnun. Our main project was to develop a product to improve the use of electronic scooters. We questioned different stakeholders in the community, brainstormed ideas, and then developed models of our product via rapid prototyping and CAD modeling using PTC Creo. We also used 3D printers to develop product prototypes and tested them in the community. • AMZ Manufacturing Corp.

      Jun 2019 - Aug 2019
      Engineering Intern

My main project in this role was to develop an effective plant layout for a new building. In doing so, I increased the warehouse space available and streamlined assembly areas for military vehicle subassemblies. After this layout was completed, I then coordinated the move-in process for the new building. I coordinated the packaging and transportation of the assembly areas and materials in phases to ensure production would never stop because of the move. Other projects I worked on were refining standard operating procedures to improve overall plant efficiency and participated in engineering change management meetings with the customer. Show less

    • Penn State Residence Life

      Jan 2020 - May 2022
      Resident Assistant

As a Resident Assistant, I help Residence Life and students simultaneously by acting as an ambassador for the school and student's health and wellbeing. I work with students to tackle social justice issues, conflicts, and other private concerns they may have. I also perform administrative tasks and participate in weekly meetings to continuously improve the methods being used in the building. This is a job on top of my studies, and Residence Life recognizes this and expects that Resident Assistants are high-performing students involved outside of the Residence Halls and are actively participating in school culture. May 2020 - Aug 2020
      Technical Operations Intern

I developed ways to automate different processes for the Pneumovax and Pedvax division. My primary project was to automate pulling overtime for scheduling based on training qualifications. This program will reduce the time and programs currently taken to complete this task. Simultaneously, I used Spotfire to pull information to track lead time metrics and determine why metrics are reporting above or below their target time. This program will pull information automatically for the last six months, and report information for six different categories. I also collaborated with the other Tech Ops interns in my division to optimize the Knowledge Management systems used by the division. Show less

    • Sheetz

      May 2021 - Aug 2021
      Operations Industrial Engineering Intern

At Sheetz, I worked on three major projects. First, I worked to reduce congestion and double handling of products in our finishing areas. By applying Lean principles, I was able to create a transitional layout that can be implemented in stages with the new machines being added to the area. This layout streamlined the flows and eliminated the congestion and double handling seen today. In my second project, I sought to develop a standard documentation system for the setup and clean-up procedures in the Bakery. These documents were then able to translate into an easy-to-read labor estimation document. This project also incorporated pulling data that has never been used before within the company to create visualizations to easily compare what is actually happening on the floor during set up and clean up to the amount of time allocated in the labor estimation. This will then allow the company to easily recognize when a time is straying from the standard and locate the source of the problem within the standard documentation. This data source is also now being used to calculate production rates and line productivity. Finally, I worked with other interns to inform Sheetz executives about various diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives they should pursue. This project allowed us to explore various studies and look introspectively within both ourselves and the company about what we can do to make a more inclusive environment. Show less
