    • Enron global exploration and production

      Jan 2000 - Apr 2002
      Project geologist

Took over geologic responsibility for company’s chief asset, Panna Field, offshore India. • IRAP-RMS geo-model to capture heterogeneity of giant carbonate oil and gas field.• Made first detailed geologic description of complicated gas reservoir and used innovative petrophysical algorithm to quantify possible gas in place of over 1 TCF.• Handled geologic operations for offshore horizontal drilling program.

    • Shell international e&p

      Jan 2002 - Jan 2008
      Consulting geologist

Development geologist and geo-modeler.• Constructed detailed Petrel models of complex, offshore Malaysian field with hundreds of reservoir compartments and over 1 billion barrels of oil in place. Identified and captured static uncertainties and generated full range volumetric estimate. Found, along with reservoir simulation, significant scope for additional infill drilling, leading to 7% recovery factor increase. Coordinated writing of field development plan and mentored less experienced geologists.• Made alternate stochastic static reservoir models (Petrel) of Oman fluvial reservoir to capture sedimentological, structural and fluid contact uncertainties for input to reservoir simulator.• Made static reservoir model (Petrel) of multi-TCF tight gas sand field in Oman incorporating seismic-derived acoustic impedance-porosity relationship and recommended appraisal drilling strategy.• Evaluated cluster of fields in central Oman (clastic and carbonate reservoirs) for waterflood potential and formulated development plans.• Identified overlooked reserves and new leads through careful correlation of log and seismic data in offshore Gulf of Mexico. Used Crystal Ball to make probabilistic reserves estimates. Show less

    • Avasthi & associates

      Jan 2006 - Jan 2009
      Principal geological consultant

Coordinated petrophysics (multi-mineral evaluations) and geophysics (seismic inversion, structural interpretation) and built static models (Petrel) of multi-reservoir (clastic and carbonate) Argentine oil and gas fields.

    • Maersk oil

      Jun 2009 - Sept 2014

Lead department which progresses non-operated development projects post-discovery through oil production, currently deep water projects in US Gulf of Mexico and pre-salt Brazil. Serve on leadership team with President and heads of all departments. Led team of geoscientists and engineers which evaluated Angola Block 16 exploration and development prospects. Geo-modelling expert responsible for evaluation of both acquisitions and discoveries.• Built Petrel models, including full uncertainty volume estimates, to evaluate Gulf of Mexico deep water, sub-salt turbidite objective (Wilcox), leading to $300 million acquisition.• Built offshore Brazil, pre- and post-salt static Petrel models of stratigraphically trapped carbonates and clastics.• Incorporated seismic attributes in building offshore Angola Petrel models of submarine channels.

      • Head of Houston Production Development

        Jun 2012 - Sept 2014
      • Team Lead

        Sept 2011 - Jun 2012
      • Lead Geologist

        Jun 2009 - Sept 2011
    • Cobalt international energy

      Oct 2014 - Apr 2016
      Senior geologist - developments

As only geologist on subsurface team, helped write field development plan and reserves update for deepwater Angolan microbialite gas-condensate field (Cameia) and helped with drilling and logging operations. Built and updated 3D geologic model (RMS) of Cameia and in concert with reservoir engineers achieved exceptional history match.Built and updated 3D geologic models of deepwater GOM fields (Heidelberg – RMS model and North Platte – Petrel model).Mentored Angolan secondee in geologic modeling. • Independence resources management

      May 2016 - Jan 2017
      Consulting geologist/reservoir modeler

Built Petrel reservoir models of Midland Basin acreage to reveal and understand controls on well performance in shale targets being appraised for first time.

    • Oxy

      Jan 2017 - Aug 2019
      Geological consultant

Built basin model of Midland Basin to assist in identifying unconventional targets for acquisition and development. Built Petrel reservoir model of Permian Basin brownfield development with >1000 wells and decades of production, incorporating core descriptions, Lucia rock fabric number, and multiple vintages of logs. Designed and updated training courses in production geology, Petrel reservoir modeling, and integrated reservoir analysis and taught numerous times in U.S., Oman, and Colombia. Mentored geologists in reservoir modeling and geologically constrained log correlation. Show less
