  Under my direction at Queen Anne's County High school, the band achieved national status placing in the USSBA National Competition held at Giants Stadium. The band placed in the top ten each year and reached 2nd place (1st in music.) The band also achieved Superior ratings at all competitions and festivals. The band also performed in the Citrus Bowl Parade and Disneyworld.

  As band director at Pass Christian, I tripled the band size in a short amount of time. The students received Superior ratings at all performances. Under my leadership, the students also performed at Disneyworld and a special clinic with the Marine Musicians of the New Orleans military base. We premiered the arrangement, "In the Garden" by Al Frabrizio and was named band of the week by a local tv station.

  I taught at Central Elementary and West Elementary. I instructed students from age 4 (preschool) to 5th grade. Under my direction, I formed a student choir at West Elementary that performed, by invitation, for Lt. Gov. Amy Tuck's inauguration, Gov. Haley Barbour, Mississippi Space Association, Mississippi Seawolves hockey team, and many local civic and charity events.I was also the coordinator of the Gulfport School District Mass Choir which included a nationally recognized clinician and over 400 students. I coordinated the public relations for the event each year which included local media coverage and interviews. I taught the National Music standards as well as write/teach/direct approximately 12 programs yearly. I have a special interest in teaching about the Gullah/Geechee culture and blues music. I also enjoyed working to promote our programs using television and newspaper resources. I delighted in watching students of all ages express their feelings through musical composition (usually using the blues format) and helping them see cross curriculum connections through this activity.
