  Work as the program manager for Circles Lancaster County, an innovative social service program that was started in Lancaster in January 2013. Circles (R) is a national initiative that supports individuals and families who currently live in poverty to reach greater stability by helping them identify their own resources, learn how to be advocates in their communities to create change, and build beneficial relationships with others. Participants go through a 16 week leadership development course where they set their own SMART goals, and then they are matched with two-four volunteer mentors from more affluent backgrounds who can provide support, friendship and connection to additional resources in the community. Together they work to break down barriers of class divides and create positive changes in their own lives and in the surrounding neighborhoods and larger community of Lancaster.Roles include: volunteer recruitment and coordination, volunteer training, group facilitation, case management, public speaking, program management, community outreach, use of media for publicity, supervision of interns and a staff person, supervision of volunteers, etc. Show less

Over the first six months of employment, the position focused on helping with planning for agency change and restructuring, writing two major program grants, and planning the launch of a new, unified service model through the ARISE Center.
