    • Cope

      Jan 2022 - May 2022
      Creative Head

As the Creative Head of Cope, I was responsible for leading and overseeing the development of initiatives aimed at raising awareness about mental health. My friends and I founded Cope with the intention of creating a safe platform for young individuals to connect with appropriate mental health professionals, providing them with a space to voice their concerns and gain helpful advice. Being teenagers ourselves, we empathize with our peers and understand the struggles they face due to mental stress. Through Cope, we aimed to help them "cope" with their problems by offering a supportive and understanding environment. My role involved conceptualizing and implementing creative strategies to engage our target audience, as well as collaborating with mental health professionals to ensure the effectiveness of our platform. This not only brought light to their lives but also opened up opportunities for education and growth. Show less

    • Horizon Academics

      Jun 2022 - Sept 2022
      Researcher

Via the platform Horizon Academics provided me with, I had the incredible opportunity to work on a research paper under the mentorship of a Princeton professor. Our topic was the reasons why women don't report sexual assault. This was a deeply important and sensitive subject, and I was honored to be able to delve into it with the guidance of such a knowledgeable and experienced mentor. Throughout the process, I conducted extensive research, analyzing data and case studies to understand the various factors that contribute to the underreporting of sexual assault by women. I delved into the psychological, societal, and legal barriers that often prevent survivors from coming forward, as well as the impact of victim-blaming and the fear of not being believed. Working closely with my mentor, I was able to gain valuable insights and perspectives that helped shape the direction of our research. We explored the historical context of sexual assault reporting, the role of institutional support, and the potential impact of cultural attitudes toward survivors. Additionally, we examined the intersectionality of the issue, considering how race, socioeconomic status, and other factors can further complicate the reporting process for marginalized women. Through this experience, I not only honed my research and analytical skills but also gained a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding sexual assault reporting. It was a challenging and emotionally taxing endeavor, but one that I believe is crucial for shedding light on an issue that affects countless individuals. Ultimately, the research paper served as a platform to amplify the voices of survivors and advocate for systemic changes that can create a more supportive and empowering environment for those who have experienced sexual assault. It was a deeply impactful and meaningful project that I am incredibly proud to have been a part of. Show less
