  In my role as Master Optician (Augenoptiker Meister) and Practice Manager I covered the whole spectrum of what I was trained and qualified for. I did refractions, fitted contact lenses and dispensed glasses. Beyond that, with only one extra staff member on site, I also had to take care of administration, banking and workshop duties.Although Germany was going through the worst recession since WW2 I managed to increase the turnover by +47% by implementing techniques in customer service.   Ever since I returned to the "old" store, the former Bells Optical Boutique, I was helping to get the store back up to its former standards. With weekly training sessions about optics, dispensing and glasses fitting I managed to improve the staff's skills and confidence.As the only remaining senior optical assistant of Hamilton's three OPSM stores I saw clients by appointment and worked as all-round trouble shooter.

  From July until December 2013 I was self employed and offered my services to businesses as Locum Optical Assistant.Most of the time I was working for Paterson Burn Optometrist, touring around the branches when help was needed. The last five weeks I was training a new staff member from scratch, introducing her to the vast spectrum of optic and teaching her to dispense.Impressed about my performance I was at last approached by the company's main share holder himself and was offered a full time role as Optical Assistant in one of the branches.
