Responsible for Ecotricity’s social media channels, as well as those of our sister company, Ecotalk. This involves planning and strategising content in line with our brand ethos and our mission for a greener Britain. My background in the energy industry and my experience setting up and managing my own small business on social media have provided solid foundations for this job, giving me a clearer idea of the customer and business needs when it comes to social media. Our channels include Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Threads, and I’ve worked with influencers in the climate activism world and gardening world too on campaigns for both Ecotricity and Ecotalk, our sister company. During lockdown 2020, I started my own business making and selling jewellery online from polymer clay and sterling silver. This fast developed into a successful venture, with myself as the only person behind the brand, meaning I handle production, marketing, accounting and partnerships all myself, expanding my skillset enormously. Having started as a small Etsy idea, I now have my own website and social media pages, as well as having a permanent feature in the Craftology shop in Stroud as well as collaborations with other creators on their websites and shops. Most recently, I featured in articles in The Sunday Times and The Sunday Telegraph which gave me the opportunity to sell myself and my products to new audiences. Starting my own business in lockdown, alongside a full time job, has given me the opportunity to learn innumerable new skills, in particular social media marketing, which has provided immeasurable help to directing my career path to social media marketing too.
