At First Hike Project we take young people from refugee backgrounds on hiking and camping experiences, to support them to feel more connected to Australia and the land. I worked with the founder to scale the organisation across Australia, establish our first Board (joining the Board as Deputy Chair from 2020-2023), and to found and lead the Sydney group. My responsibilities include developing and implementing organisational vision, strategy and processes, developing and managing relationships with refugee and community organisations, coordinating and training 30+ volunteers, organising and leading hikes and fundraising, and mentoring refugee participants.https://firsthikeproject.org.au/https://www.abc.net.au/listen/programs/sydney-breakfast/first-hike-project/101654020https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2022/nov/14/it-changes-your-whole-mood-the-hiking-project-that-helps-new-arrivals-feel-at-home Show less
