      Student Intern (Fieldwork Experience)

This was my first fieldwork experience at an Amerindian settlement of several generations, f.e. the 16th century in first contact with the Europeans reflected by a use of European glass beads in local ceramics for decoration. A truly unforgettable experience that taught me standard field techniques in archaeology (incl. working with the total station and supervising) but also a lot about myself. The video: "Our" section starts around 6 minutes in. You might spot me working in the background ( around 13 minutes in a blue t-shirt, hair in a bun, kaki hat and trousers, clipboard). Weniger anzeigen

      Viking Smith and Intern

I did an internship here with the purpose of experiencing Public Archaeology (how to disseminate archaeological knowledge to the public) and experimental archaeology where I did experiments for the purpose of experiencing and understanding (the processes) in prehistoric metallurgy. I set up several experiments where I made crucibles, moulds and charcoal and attempted to reconstruct a silver bead/button from the clothing of the Moorfind of Skjoldehamn in NW-Norway dating to the 10th century.Although I was initially not successful, it was a both inspiring and educational experiment for me.A link to my report can be found here: http://lofotr.laboremus.info/novus/upload/tab1/article/LOFOTR%20Marianne%20Talma%20INTERNSHIP%20REPORT%202011.pdf Weniger anzeigen
