  I led the efforts to develop an automated ophthalmic device prototype. I microfabricated projection targets for the instrument. I assembled a custom-built Shack Hartmann wavefront sensor, and I edited, tested, and debugged the relevant software module. I also participated in the conceptualization of tunable cylindrical fluidic lenses. I contributed to the mechanical (CAD) and optical design, and I performed the assembly and testing (HW and SW) of the prototype. I conducted tests on human subjects, and collected and analyzed the data. All these efforts paved the way to the subsequent product development at iCRx Inc.As a side project, I led a team of undergraduate students in developing a multi-spectral cancer imager prototype. I built the device operation software in MATLAB, and I developed machine learning algorithms for data analysis. I conducted the human subject study, which results enabled the Phase II research. Show less In my first postdoctoral assignment, I microfabricated, functionalized and optically coupled ultrasensitive photonic biosensors. I demonstrated ppt sensitivity with in vitro diagnostic systems. I regularly operated lasers, lock-in aplifiers, optical spectrum analyzers and photodetectors. I practiced both free-space optics and fiber optics.In my second position, I initiated research on the manufacture and operation of tunable fluidic lenses using rapid prototyping. The output of this conceptual result enabled the prototyping phase of an automated ophthalmic system. Show less
