      Physiotherapy Work Experience/Shadowing

Spent a day shadowing physiotherapists in the outpatients department at Bideford Hospital, two days shadowing physiotherapists at Exeter Hospital in various wards and another day at Taunton Hospital shadowing the physiotherapy team.At Bideford, saw how physiotherapists deal one-to-one with people in outpatients and the exercises given to patients to help alleviate issues and help them recover. I was given the opportunity to help participate in a group exercise therapy session for patients who had had falls or were recovering from a stroke. I really enjoyed interacting with the patients in the class and helping them to carry out their exercises correctly. At Exeter and Taunton I spent time in different clinical environments including orthopaedics, trauma, oncology, renal and surgery wards. It was a highly-valuable experience in which I saw how the multi-disciplinary team all work together to achieve the best patient care possible.I found this work experience very interesting and insightful in seeing the scope and variety of a physiotherapist's day-to-day work.
