I am a critical sociologist of educational leadership and education policy. In my research, I use critical theories to explore power relations, agency and structure, with a particular focus on the practices and identities of those in charge of education institutions. I research school leadership and education policy using critical theories. I also lead teaching modules on the MA Educational Leadership and BA Management, Leadership and Leisure programmes. Won ESRC studentship to map the rapid growth in types of school in England and research its relationship with their leaders' professional practice and identity.
