  A three weeks work experience at a historic car restorer, specialised on Porsche's. This work experience was very important for me, as it confirmed my interest in Automotive mechanics. I got the opportunity to look into every aspect of a car restoration, except the paint job.Sadly due to a broken arm I couldn't get as involved as I would have wanted to.Some of the work I got the opportunity to experience was:-Manufacturing of a wire loom.-Engine head assembly.-Complete chassis strip and reassembly.   A one month work experience with an engine builder, specialised on historic and air cooled engines.Working on pure engines without any advanced electronics, helped to further reinforce my mechanical understanding. The whole process of rebuilding a engine and taking measurements from every single part to then utilise the maximum potential of the engine, gave me a better understanding of the important of tolerances and clearances.I learned about all the important steps of rebuilding and improving a engine from the mechanical site. including:-Measurement of various parts: Bearings, shafts, bores and pistons.-Scaling of various parts.-Lightening parts.-Balancing-Improving valves and valve seats.-Surface facing. -Honing.-Hardening.-Resurfacing.-Special finish and coating. -Complete engine rebuild.
