      Web Designer/Asst. Event Coordinator/Videographer

As I worked for this ministry in the Dallas area, I learned many high level media skills, including web design, video production, and international event coordination. Intern

While I was at the Wellington Group, I learned about the PR industry from the viewpoint of a small agency with both local and national clients. I worked on creation of media lists (using cision media creation software) and media kits, product/news release drops to local media, research for products, media targets, and event creation and coordination. I was also instructed in how to write for each unique situation in the PR field.

    • AT&T

      Sept 2009 - Oct 2010
      Sales Representative

I started this job while I was in school as a part-time means of good income and found that it was worth staying with after I graduated due to the flexible hours and large profit. This job involved door-to-door sales and it's where I learned how to be self-motivated and how to sell. I found it is sometimes just as important to sell myself as the product. Not only did I learn high-level sales tactics, but i was also able to further develop my understanding of people and how to motivate individuals to take action. Show less

Volunteer English as Second Language Teacher and Student Supervisor

I taught English as a Second Language to orphans and students at different primary schools near Chiang Mai, Thailand. It was a rewarding job, as knowing English opens up incredible economic & education opportunities for the largely underprivileged kids there. I was also living on-site with the children, so was often responsible for supervising and interacting with them in daily life. Although this was a volunteer position, it provided me with an unmatched level of experience, both professional and personal. I was incredibly grateful for the chance to learn from the kids as they learned from me, and I loved expanding my understanding of all human cultural behavior as I adapted to a culture that is so different from the one I grew up in and knew for most of my life. Founder

I have a vision for the future of work. Fortunately, it's shared, and already successful at dynamic companies throughout the world. In many ways, that vision is rooted in the understanding that a system that produces a winner and a loser – a more powerful and a less powerful – is unavoidably destructive to any relational dynamic. And the employer-employee dynamic is absolutely relational. So to regenerate alignment, engagement and motivation in the workplace, we have to be able to shift. The authoritarian, rigidly hierarchical workplace becomes the symbiotic, autonomous, meaning-driven workplace. Those that can adapt, inevitably will thrive – the best workers giving their best effort and accessing all of their creative innovation will naturally propel any organization forward.Because this requires forging a new path, and there aren’t a lot of defined models to follow, it is quite a difficult transition. And it will be tempting to go back to the way things used to be when there are inevitable stumbles along the way. So I leveraged my strengths in system design, HCD, facilitation, IT, research, and a deep knowing of how to unify people around a common purpose, and created ThriveLab with my friend Brett to help in that adaptation – we’ve got the map, and know the steps to take that will help organizations get there faster and with less mistakes.I help create workplaces where humanity can thrive, and where the innate power of thriving communities naturally fuels the organization’s effectiveness in their purpose.
