  - Awarded a Biomedical Vacation Scholarship from the Wellcome Trust, which allowed me to undertake a 2 month research project in the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre (APC) and UCC Department of Physiology during the summer of 2015.- Gained experience in several laboratory techniques, such as immunofluorescent microscopy, calcium imaging, nerve-gut baths, and dissections.- Practised proper scientific write-up on my own findings using Word.- Utilised Powerpoint to communicate findings of research to a scientific audience.- Undertook outreach with the APC – Microbiome Institute at Fota Wildlife Park, in which we taught children about the structure and function of the gut, and the role it plays in everyday life.
