TOKYU CONSTRUCTION CO., LTD has been awarded CP103 Package: Civil and Track Works and Signaling & Telecommunication Works between Nyaung Le Bin and Taungoo.Contract Commencement date is 5th November 2018 with a time for completion of 48 months for the whole of the Works. The proposed date of completion is on November 2022.The Project deals with the rehabilitation and modernization of the Yangon–Mandalay Railway line in Myanmar. The Yangon–Mandalay Railway Line is a 620 km double track, non-electrified line connecting the three major cities of Myanmar, Yangon to Mandalay via Nay Pyi Taw.It is the most important railway line of Myanmar, and is part of the 5,876 km total track system of Myanmar. On this line, there are a total of 96 stations, including freight stations. Due to ageing and deterioration of the railway line and bridges, the current travel time on Yangon-Mandalay Railway is about 15-16 hours and the train operation is lacking in terms of safety and efficiency. The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) and the Government of Myanmar have prioritized the rehabilitation and modernization of Yangon-Mandalay Railway Line. The proposed technical targets of this project are to achieve the maximum train running speed of 100 km/h safely and to provide the train operation service of less than 8 hours for the section from Yangon to Mandalay and to cope with increasing the passenger and freight transport capacity between Yangon-Mandalay.
