  There is a gap in the management of utility costs between the accounting and engineering staff in most companies. The accounting staff know what bills they have paid, but don't know what they are paying for. Engineers know how utilites are used, but don't know the charges. Uticon fills that gap, analyses the costs, provides recommendations to reduce those costs and chases those recommendations through the local municipality. Analyse and report on utility costs to the company clients and establish means to reduce those utility costs within the published government acts, municipal by laws and applicable tariffs.

  Building assessments for best use of energy whilst ensuring that the buildings remain fit for purpose and comfortable for staff and the public. Assessments include lighting, heating, insulation, ventilation, building materials: any element that will affect how the building operates in any season.I also undertake problem solving for thousands of accounts that make up the council portfolio. Some accounts are queried simply because payment is delayed, some because the power use is too high - or too low, others where the tariffs applied are incorrect for present use. It's a constantly moving landscape. And in addition, there are frequent queries from staff regarding their own properties and the best way to improve how their homes work or the most appropriate measures to employ with their new home build. Also, continually analyse how the council facilities use energy and seek to reduce the energy used without affecting services or staff comfort.Work with the local network lines company to rationalise lines charges to the council.Actively engage with energy suppliers to find better and best ways to improve delivery of energy and productivity to councilImplement an energy management program at council. The Christchurch City Council has several thousand power connections for offices, libraries, recreation centres, water and waste pumping stations, lighting, art galleries and so on. All these sites use power, and I ensure that the power used is as low as possible and charged at the best possible rate for manner of use.
