      I-66/Route 15 Interchange Reconstruction Design Build Project, Haymarket, VA: Melvin provided preliminary and final design services for the reconstruction of parallel bridges as part of the newly designed Diverging Diamond Interchange of Interstate 66 (I-66) and U.S. Route 15 (James Madison Highway).Melvin conducted preliminary design and prepared the “Stage I” report for Route 658 (Mount Olive Road) over the N. Anna River at Hanover-Spotsylvania County Line.VDOT U.S. 460 Corridor Improvements Design-Build pursuit project: Responsible for a variety of preliminary design for the pursuit including superstructure and substructure design and plan quantities.Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) over Accotink Creek Construction Services Contract, City of Fairfax, VA: Conducted independent shop drawing review of multiple bridge components during bridge construction.GDOT I-75/I-575 Northwest Corridor Project, Atlanta, GA: Bridge Engineer responsible for performing design review of several bridges under construction for the corridor improvement project.MDOT Winona Bridge (Trunk Highway 43 over Mississippi River), Winona, Minnesota: Melvin was responsible for computing all section properties and capacities for the truss members and gusset plates to determine the bridge LRFR ratings in the existing condition.Oklahoma DOT Baker provided services for the Load and Resistance Factor Rating (LRFR) of state-owned bridges. LRFR and LFR load rating of 159 complex bridges based on the use of influence lines and influence surfaces. Performed gusset plate load rating calculations on 1930’s era truss bridges. VDOT Load Rating Region II and Statewide (2008-2015): Helped performed several hundred load ratings on numerous bridges types. Experience includes analysis of horizontally curved, truss, post-tension, gusset plate and integral pier structures.City of Suffolk, VA: Melvin helped performed task management for the City’s initial permit load rating program. Bridge Engineer.Load RatingPreformed numerous load ratings of different types of bridges using Bridge Rating, Descus, LARSA and Midas software. Bridge types include steel girders with complex framing, concrete multi-cell boxes, integral pier and many others. Design Responsible for preliminary design on Rte. 50 WB over I-66 in Segment 2 of I-66.
