During my degree I also generated laboratory skills such as PCR, ELISA, Western blotting, protein isolation & purification, PBMC preparation and cell count. During my degree I also generated laboratory skills such as PCR, ELISA, Western blotting, protein isolation & purification, PBMC preparation and cell count. I have completed a metabolism and immunology research laboratory project titled “What fuels Mucosal Associated Invariant T (MAIT) cells in obesity?”. I worked with blood samples from healthy and obese donors in order to determine the metabolic pathways which MAIT cells utilise to produce cytokines and also how their metabolism is altered in obesity. I carried out techniques such as cell culturing, ELISA procedures and seahorse analysis. This project allowed me to strengthen my ability to accurately analyse data using Prism 6 and compile detailed written reports in a timely manner. Show less
