  During my time at University I took a year out before my final year for a professional placement. At this leading software development company I learned about object oriented design and programming and the software development lifecycle. Working on a variety of projects ranging from tracking and extrapolating satellite data, to redesigning in house processes and tools to minimise or remove unnecessary human intervention. One example is the weekly manual upload of 100 individual timesheets into a database. The process became fully automated and included the ability to run reports, significantly reducing the time management spent getting the data they needed. During my time at TTP I used MS Visual Studio tools such as VB, C++ and became an expert in Microsoft Office Visual Basic for Applications. Show less

  Technical consultant at ING Bank where I was responsible for enhancing server availability and resolving issues relating to mission critical infrastructure. Prior to this I was the Team Leader at UBS Warburg, where I led a new team of 6 system analysts to drive datacenter efficiency, supporting over 1000 servers across multiple sites. Graduated from University and entered Sun’s highly regarded graduate scheme rotating around the business, through design, operations, support and consultancy. Underwent extensive training in Solaris (UNIX), Networking, Sun Systems, Storage, Advanced Troubleshooting Techniques, Team Leadership and Strategy.

  A variety of leadership roles including:• Line management responsibility for the design team at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Made up of 12 solution architects and 8 test and automation engineers.• Trusted advisor and Solution Architect for Lloyds Banking Group in London. My work culminated in a Service Maturity Assessment for Lloyds Digital Banking Platform which led to increased uptime and security for their next generation mobile banking app.• Network Rail migration consultant. Created a migration design through reverse engineering a complex set of applications that communicate externally over the internet. Regularly presented progress to C-level execs.• Vodafone Datacenter Migration. Led a team of 12 consultants and partners through a complex migration that had no margin for failure. Months of planning and preparation completed in two weekends of successful migration in Ireland.• Visa Datacenter Design and Build. Led a team of 10 consultants to design and build highly resilient infrastructure. Technologies included VMware, vSphere and Cisco NSX. Included travel and leading teams at each location. • Pioneered a new datacenter provisioning model which allowed full racks of pre configured and pre cabled infrastructure to be ordered with one click. Built off site, wheeled in, connected and ready to go. The provisioning model was developed further to fully automate supply to meet demand. Show less
