Jack of all trades master of none

Started out in the work force as a high school drop out at the age of 16. I have been a logger, sawyer, cowboy, soldier, laborer, truck driver, heavy equipment operator, under ground minor, team leader, assistant project manager, project manager, and owner operator of 2 businesses' for almost 14 years, an excavating company and full automotive mechanic repair shop. I have been large and in charge on several multi million dollar projects, from Mine reclamation to building golf courses, and even willing to be shot at while managing convoys in the war zone in Iraq in 2003--2004, (just another day at the office) before transitioning into the oil & gas industry. I am a self motivated, team player and leader with the integrity to do the right thing even when nobody is looking. Feel free to contact me. Obviously I am open to new things. Life is an adventure! • TJ"S Excavating

      Jan 1998 - Jan 2011
      Owner Operator

I owned and operated my own excavating company. I was licensed in the State of Montana License # 74 to install and design septic systems. I installed and designed 100's over the years. So many that I earned a great reputation with the county sanitation department inspector. From time to time when the county inspector was back logged they asked me to inspect systems designed and installed by contractors with less experience. I also assisted a few contractors in obtaining their own license by letting them install and inspecting their work under my license. I performed land clearing, road building, dug footings and basements for new buildings and homes. I also performed scarification, brush piling, fire lining, road closures, and contracted out for forest fires with and for the U.S. Forest Service. I successfully bid and was awarded jobs for 13 years. I performed welding, fabrication, preventive maintenance and break down repairs on heavy equipment and trucks. I made all one calls before beginning any construction and managed several employees and crews over the 13 years that I owned this business. Show less

      Nace Level 1 Coatings/Utility Inspector

I worked as a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector and a Utility Inspector on the Magellan Midstream Partners, Bridge Tex project. My duties included conducting and Issuing the Authorization to Work permit to the contractor performing the work. To go over all safety concerns and Issues, then observe the contractor perform the work, document their progress and final results. I insured that all aspects of safety practices, procedures, & specifications of the contract were being performed in accordance to the contract, with all things that concern or were related to Utilities and Coatings. On this particular project that consisted of just over a 2 mile section of bore, HDD, open cut excavations, & sections placed on a pipe rack that the contractor installed. From the "row", through 4 refineries, Dow, Marathon GBR, Marathon TRD, and Valero for the instillation of a 24" and 26" line. I inspect all aspects of a complete coating procedure some in the field and some at a private 2nd party coatings facility. The underground sections, and weld joints an FBE application and above ground an Epoxy Polyamide Primer and an Aliphatic Acrylic Polyurethane. I inspect the solvent cleaning, sand blasting, surface profile, mixing process & application, of both styles of coatings, I check the WFT, DFT, & holiday testing. I insure that all proper procedures and specifications of manufacturer and contract are being followed. On Utilities I observe the process of the proper use of the one call system and then by locating by means using existing alignment drawings, contacting existing pipeline owners and obtaining as much information as possible about all foreign lines in the area before observing the contractor locate by use of an M-Scope or Line locating instrument. Then observe the Hydro- excavation process to pot hole, lay eyes on, and have survey take GPS coordinate readings and document all foreign lines, inspect for coating damage caused by excavation, Pretty basic Inspector stuff.
