      Aug 2017 - Sept 2018

-Investigated a critical DRAM (DDR3/DDR4) hardware vulnerability using Rowhammer attack. As DRAM chips become denser, quick and repeated access to a single row (Rowhammer) can leak the charge from that row into neighboring rows, triggering a bit flip. Such flips have the potential to escalate attacker privilege or breach VM isolation on multi-tenant host.-Performed the attack on stand-alone machines including server grade systems, laptops and smartphones (ARM processor).-Evaluated reduced DRAM refresh interval as a possible mitigation technique. -In a practical setup (data centers), it is possible to corrupt data that belongs to a guest OS in multi-tenant cloud setup from another guest OS. Worked on mounting the cross VM attack and explored mitigation techniques. Show less
