  Rehab First is a busy Occupational Therapy practice located in Alberton, Johannesburg that gains a large number of in and out patients from the nearby Netcare Union Hospital. I successfully managed a full case load of in and out patients with upper limb conditions. Many of these patients having suffered significant injuries at the workplace and claiming Workman's Compensation.We were fortunate to work with a number of Specialist Surgeons who respected the importance of pre and post operative rehabilitation allowing close team work to develop. I most enjoyed working closely with the Orthopedic Surgeon Dr Blok and managing tendon injuries from repair to maximum function. - Assessment and treatment of in and out of hospital patients suffering with upper limb conditions.- Independent management of a full case load of patients.- Worked with Specialist Surgeons.- Working with private patients, medical aids and the workmen’s compensation commission.   Big learning curve that cemented by assessment and report writing skills. I worked as an Occupational Therapist in two primary roles:- Medico-legal; performing Functional Capacity Evaluations and writing reports as an expert witness in medico-legal cases, specifically Road Accident Fund cases. This involved highly detailed assessment of the clients current functional capacity, other expert reports and determination of the rehabilitation / assistance required and the cost implications. I was trained and made use of the the WorkWell protocols to bolster my performance in this role. Comprehensive reports were written and made use of as expert testimony in court or for settlement. I was fortunate enough to be requested to offer verbal testimony in court to further substantiate my assessment results. - Upper Limb Rehabilitation; bi-monthly performing assessment and treatment of a wide range of upper limb conditions of in and out of hospital patients at the Netcare Olivedale Hospital in Johannesburg.   Co-founded a passion built business called Plants on Plates. We formed close relationships with over 20 vegan food manufacturers both in the local and international space. We stored, sold and distributed over 250 lines of their products to the food service industry in the Western Cape, South Africa. In a highly competitive industry, we found our niche distributing vegan products with the goal of increasing the accessibility of vegan food items to the food service industry which plays a large guiding role in the eating habits of the communities they service. In the two years we owned and operated the business, before we sold in November 2020, we disrupted to the food and beverage industry in Cape Town and became known for the wide range of vegan food solutions, fair pricing, unique supplier relationships and menu consulting that we offered.At the core of our business operations was a strong team work approach with our suppliers with whom we worked closely to roll out their products to the food service industry. I greatly developed my sales skills during this time interacting with a wide number of business and focusing on a partnership approach with our food service clients who we fostered strong relationships. Creating our own business from the ground up was a dream of my wife and I and it paid off. We learnt innumerable number of things throughout this experience that will continue to serve us in our business ventures going forward. Show less
