Activities and Societies: Distance 4 Dreams Obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in August, 2014.Obtained a wide base of knowledge in engineering theory and design. Had several opportunities to work closely with other engineers to create products or reach specific goals. One example of this includes my current work in the first level of our capstone course. In this course, the team's goal is to design a functional extruding mechanism for our sponsors. This requires the team to communicate effectively while incorporating engineering knowledge in materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical design to create a quality product that meets the sponsors' design requirements and constraints. Engineering intern

Performed research on mechanical properties of ceramic materials for aeronautical and aerospace applications.Utilized Instron and MTS test rigs to perform tensile, compression, shear, and bend tests to determine material properties. My major effort included testing lightweight ceramic insulation specimen under compression for space flight applications using a photo extensometer.Used SEM microscope to aid in analyzing ceramic matrix composite failures.

      Engineering co-op

Performed efficiency testing to develop Barnes SH submersible pump in order to meet product launch date. Combinations of difference sizes of volutes and sweeps of impellers were used to maximize pump efficiency and compare results to those of various competitors.Managed Premium Battery Backup system project for pump usage in emergency situations, such as when the pump’s primary power source loses power. After creating a test plan and setup, I tested the AC-to-DC adapter that was supposed to run the pumps. The results proved to not meet design requirements, and a PowerPoint presentation was produced and given to a panel of engineers to advise them on what future actions to take. Show less

Obtained Secret security clearance.Organized and reviewed Wyle technical documentation. With respect to organization, a Tailored Airworthiness Certification Criteria (TACC) library was completed to demonstrate the airworthiness of the C-27J Spartan aircraft. Along with the work effort, I was instructed to review and improve several of the company's technical documents. For example, I reviewed a Small Unmanned Aerial system manual that was being sent to a local university as a course proposal. This provided an understanding of the requirements for successful unmanned aircraft operation.Completed US Defense Acquisition University Acquisition 101 (ACQ 101) course. After completing the course, I wrote a technical document for Wyle to demonstrate my understanding of the systems engineering process. Show less

Performed Infrared and Photoemission measurements of transistors using Wright-Patterson Air Force Base's Quantum Focus Instruments (QFI) QuantumScope. This testing provided information for failure analysis and region of interest localization. High magnification optical tomography was also used to detect damages to transistors.Created a program using Visual Basic to automate electrical characterization of transistors through an Agilent Model E5273A source monitoring unit (SMU). This project had a two week deadline and required a familiarity with Visual Basic programming that I did not have. It required the ability to communicate effectively with engineers of a different discipline to understand the two test procedures being automated. The assignment was completed successfully in two weeks, and a PowerPoint presentation was created and provided to a panel of engineers. Show less

      Area director

I oversee the seven Young Life ministries (one college, three high school, two middle school, one for our friends with disabilities) on the near west side of Cleveland in Cuyahoga County. I recruit and train our teams of volunteers, whose main goal is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith in the various communities we represent.
