Managed summer associate program.• Argued an Americans with Disabilities Act case before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals on behalf of a hospital. The successful defense of summary judgment in the employer’s favor has been cited frequently for various pre-amendment ADA principles.• Negotiated a favorable settlement on behalf of a manufacturer in a sex discrimination case that included an incriminating email from an owner of the company. As a condition of the settlement negotiations, the owner obtained a written apology from the plaintiff.• Conducted a sexual harassment investigation within a police department. The successful appeal of the determination allowed the company to continue using its business model without incurring employment taxes.• Created a drug and alcohol testing policy that covered a truck parts company’s employees, including employees with commercial driver’s licenses, in multiple states. The implementation of a master policy with state and DOT supplements brought the employer into compliance with applicable laws and provided a system for ongoing administration.• Crafted an employment agreement for a company in the import and export business that was hiring a salesman who negotiated for severance benefits. The agreement guaranteed the company a full release of claims by the salesperson in exchange for the payment of the severance after the company terminated his employment without cause. Show less
