  I was instrumental in changing and creating a new communications and event department designed specifically for local government. This department, known as the City Media and Events (CME) Unit reports directly to the General Manager of Rockdale City Council. I co-ordinate the activities of a group of professional Event and Communications personnel. Reporting directly to the CEO, the City Media and Events Unit is responsible for publishing relevant communication, including hardcopy, web and social/digital media, targetting main and local media outlets and the general community. The Events tier ensures that all pubic events meet the Council's objectives, mitigates public risk and abides with current OH & S standards. We also keep pace with a dynamic political environment, gather media intelligence to forecast potential issues and engage in media risk management strategies, to mitigate and/or protect overall brand integrity.
