  As an AI Research Intern in IBM's Climate and Sustainability team, I engaged in cutting-edge research that integrated AI with sustainability initiatives, focusing on the finance domain. My primary project involved developing a multimodal AI model for time series prediction, leveraging data from diverse sources:ESG Sentiment Analysis: Extracted sentiment data related to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) responsibilities from news articles. Utilized Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques, including Sentiment Analysis and Topic Classification, to process and interpret large volumes of textual data.Data Integration: Combined textual ESG sentiment data with tabular data from company financial documents and historical stock data. This integration was key to enhancing the model’s predictive capabilities, particularly for financial market trends.Model Development: Contributed to the enhancement of IBM's Tiny Time Mixer model, which is designed for multimodal input processing. My work focused on aligning time series predictions with real-world market data, improving the model’s accuracy in predicting stock ticker movements.Technical Skills: Gained hands-on experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments to optimize algorithm performance. Enhanced my expertise in Python for data analysis, deep learning, and classification algorithms.Collaboration and Presentation: Collaborated with a multi-disciplinary team, including data scientists and domain experts. Delivered key presentations to senior leaders, including cross-department managers and global leads, to align our project with broader sustainability goals.This internship was pivotal in expanding my technical expertise and applying AI in real-world scenarios, particularly within the intersection of finance and sustainability.
