Experience

Chickasaw Nation Industries, Inc.- BIA Contractor
Oct 2001 - Dec 2002Reports SpecialistI was responsible for independently gathering data supplied by field staff. I researched incomplete information and discrepancies, and compiled the Probate Project’s biweekly, monthly, and quarterly field reports into statistical and narrative analysis submitted to the customer, BIA. The narrative analysis reflected staff attrition, production rates, and limitations encountered. Since I worked with the data from 22 agencies, at times the guidelines were contradictory. To this end, I provided Regional Managers with ongoing training as well as necessary formal direction. To track production goals I developed time report templates now utilized by field staff, created an Access database to track production, and maintained positive relations with staff nationwide. I also functioned as the project editor as I generated and proofed outgoing project documents, SOPs, reports requested by the customer, and PowerPoint presentations. Show less

Chickasaw Nation Industries, Inc.
Jan 2003 - Dec 2007As an Instructional Designer/Trainer I was a member of the Organizational Development Team (ODT). I created, facilitated, and analyzed the results of an organizational needs assessment that included personnel of all levels. Based on these results I recommended needed training to upper management such as specific skill-based training (Excel, Word, Access), soft skills training (Conflict Resolution, Intercultural Communication, Team Building), as well as employee development options (Employee Reference Library, Brown Bag Training Sessions, Computer Based Training Alternatives). I also initiated a weekly skills tip (including topics such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Communication, and Customer Service) that was distributed to all CNI Albuquerque personnel as well as to CNI employees in Arizona and Colorado. The weekly tips included written tip instructions or narrative (developed in Adobe Illustrator) along with a demonstration movie (created in Adobe Macromedia Captivate) when appropriate. I was responsible for designing, developing and delivering a variety of training sessions to diverse audiences, using the ISD process to develop curriculum and courseware in a deadline-driven corporate setting. I designed and developed relevant training materials, conducted classroom training for large and small groups, and administered training evaluation tools. Additionally, I developed of a variety of training deliverables: storyboards, outlines, instructor manuals, student manuals, and curriculum and evaluation materials. Show less In addition to my reporting responsibilities (as specified below), I was appointed Team Lead of the Central Research Team (CRT) initiated December 2002. As the CRT Team Lead/Quality Assurance Manager I worked to direct the creation of a tracking database, staffing and production reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), as well as request forms submitted to the CRT from field staff for research and/or document acquisition. Additionally, I was responsible for managing the CRT staff including all personnel tasks such as interviewing, hiring, training, approving leave requests, and initiating corrective actions. I attended weekly teleconferences with the Regional Managers, Deputy Project Manager and Project Manager to discuss productivity, identify problems, and generate solutions to issues encountered. I attended weekly Project Manager meetings in the absence of the Project and Deputy Project Managers to provide project updates to CNI management. As field employees were hired, I was responsible for providing formal training and step-by-step instructions on reporting and CRT tasks. I developed training scripts on reporting, SOPs, and CRT processes and procedures that were provided to new-hires nationwide. I initiated daily conversations with the Regional Managers and field staff to provide clarification and direction to assist the Probate Project in achieving its goals. My background in Intercultural Communication provided me with the ability to communicate with diverse populations. I adjusted my method of oral and/or written communication according to the experience level and knowledge of the staff. Additionally, I conducted national telephone interviews in an effort to recruit and promote the hiring of Native Americans at various CNI offices. Finally, I conducted recruiting for customer agencies, via Internet search engines, where CNI experienced difficulty locating qualified candidates. Show less
