  Signal analyst

  I was appointed as a signal analyst in the Sensors and Electronic Warfare Engagement simulation (SEWES) group in January 2014. My focus area was on software engineering and the development platform used was Matlab and Simulink. I was involved in developing the naval chaff model and other Electronic Warfare (EW) simulations for an international project. I was co-author of the user manual and the technical reference manual and was involved with the CDR (critical design review) for this project. Furthermore, I developed an E-Learning training tool to train new SANDF (South African Defence Force) employees in Electronic Warfare. This training tool was focused on electronic attack. Show less

  Project coordination and management

  Projects successfully completed: 1) A research and development project called Inundu which is a Fast-Jet Pod. This Pod is used for Test and Evaluation of EW (Electronic Warfare) and has been built by a team of engineers and I was the project manager. The Inundu Phase II included a Ram-Air-Turbine to power the pod, a pilot console unit and a base station. 2) The Target RF Signal Generator System Project. This is a Test and Evaluation system that utilises DRFM (Digital Radio Frequency Memory) technology. It is able to represent realistic multi-scatterer targets to the SUT (System under Test) that dynamically changes as the targets manoeuvre through the environment. On a day-to-day basis I was responsible for the following:Ensure the programme is at all times contract specific compliant, Arranging Export and Import permits, Supplier management, Revenue recognition, Prepare & ensure that all project initiation documentation is of adequate quality and in place,Report financial and HR performance of the project team to relevant line manager, Compliance to policies, procedures and practices of the CSIR,Leading meetings and ensuring project progress, Successfully leading teams to achieve objectives within given time frames, Budgeting and managing costs,Working and collaborating with international clients,Resource loading of the programme & Resource planning,Reporting to management and stakeholders,Procurement planning and coordinating,Helping the team to solve technical challenges,Preparation and presentation of reports to stakeholders,Doing coordination of flight tests,Doing presentations,Writing a project management plan, andHelping to write proposals for business development team.
