Led the team in the design and installation of several SUN and IBM based configurations, some of which included the SUN systems used for the blood donor application and the IBM SP used for the hospitals’ payroll system. Led the team in the selection of a Storage Area Network and center-wide tape backup solution. Sr. Systems Programmer Installed, maintained and provided support for IBM mainframe and UNIX operating systems, interfaces, CA and other third party software. Provided primary support for the SUN system running STC’s Datagate interface engine. Developed business recovery plans for MVS/ESA and SUN systems. Created a custom user interface for maintaining and compiling source code using ISPF dialogs and CA-Librarian.   INOVA Health SystemCoordinated the upgrade of Inova’s Radiology system which encompassed a vendor upgrade of Sybase and the application software as well an in-house upgrade of systems software including a migration to version 5.2 of AIX. Successfully led the go-live for this upgrade, working closely with the Systems Engineering team to design, plan and accomplish the entire upgrade, as well as data migration, in a substantially smaller downtime window than proposed by the vendor. Contributed systems programming support for Inova’s z/OS 1.4 migration, product upgrades, Storage Management and IVP testing and documentation. Involved in VTS backups and Disaster Recovery using VTS Import/Export. Developed a collection of REXX execs, JCL and control members that exploit the SMTP protocol to facilitate automation of paging and email reporting. Assumed the lead S.E. role for the planning and installation of the database servers to be used for Inova’s automated Time & Attendance application. Worked with Inova’s S.E. team and EMC to develop a detailed checklist for the connection of Inova’s AIX servers to the DMX3000 via SAN.ADC System ServicesDeveloped business recovery procedures which included scripts and a detailed checklist for restoring an AIX system for a major hospital in the Washington DC metropolitan area.   Responsible for managing a team of System Engineers supporting the hospitals’ mainframe and UNIX based operating systems. Performed supervisory tasks such as staff meetings, scheduling, training, reviews and directed projects and maintenance windows. Managed multiple OS platforms including AIX, Linux, Solaris and z/OS on more than 150 hosts. Achieved a successful data center migration involving extensive planning, design, hardware installation, testing, detailed documentation and go-lives. Guided the team and contributed to many successful annual business continuity tests. Led hundreds of SAN disk migrations, server migrations and operating system upgrades. Installed/Maintained the platform for a large Epic implementation including support for several complex upgrades, paving the way for the department’s transition to “service provider” for another hospital in the area. Automated zero-downtime backups through the use of Netbackup, Korn shell scripting and array based clone and snapshot technologies on EMC VMAX and XtremIO SAN storage. Managed consolidation efforts by combining several servers onto an IBM P590, then migrating to redundant P595s, P795s and E880 enterprise class servers for better availability. Implemented VCS across the board providing a robust high availability solution for over 25 applications. Responded to recent challenges arising from audit concerns and vulnerability remediation guidelines, meeting strict project deadlines. Expanded and improved documentation considerably and encouraged team members to utilize detailed checklists driving a well-planned, consistent, and error-resistant approach to system maintenance.
