After completing my course in Art, Design and Mixed Media I progressed into this course. I wanted to build upon my skills as an artist and learn about Animation. While I was attending this course I gained a variety of skills in life drawing, Flash animation and I had the opportunity to do work experience. This consisted of studying the form and movements of animals in Dublin Zoo and recording my observations in a diary.

I have always had a very keen interest in art and design and I decided to do this course because I did a summer portfolio course in The NCAD. The summer portfolio opened up new opportunities for me and I decided to pursue art. While I was attending this course we used a variety of mediums and built 3-D forms. In addition to this we did life drawing and print-making which involved etching into acetate and making prints using a printing press. I thoroughly enjoyed this course because it allowed me to explore my creative potential and it gave me the skills I needed to progress into the animation course. Show less

    • Dunnes Stores

      Dec 2016 - Jan 2017
      Cashier

This employment provided me with great customer service experience especially so given I was employed during the shops busiest time of the year when it was short staffed. Customers are often stressed and irate at this time of year and I learned to always deal with queries in a calm, pleasant and professional manner. I had to work at speed to clear queues but always ensuring that no errors were made during payment and with an awareness that busy periods can mean additional problems with fraud and theft for the store. With this in mind, I made sure I was fully aware of the various security features on bank notes and of transactions that may appear suspicious. I also had to be aware of the laws around the sale of alcohol and ensure it was not sold to persons underage or outside of permitted hours. I enjoyed this position as it provided me with an opportunity to meet many different members of the public and to learn how to effectively deal with customer complaints. Show less

    • Mason Hayes & Curran LLP

      Jul 2017 - Aug 2017
      Administration

This was my first experience in a clerical role and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I returned to the same firm to work for a second summer the following year between college semesters. I had to work as part of a busy team and lend support to the accounts team by ensuring filing was up to date and data was inputted daily into financial spreadsheets. I maintained both electronic and paper files. I also dealt with phone and email queries from solicitors and secretaries regarding expense requests. I used my own initiative and attended to filing or photocopying that was building up to take pressure off the accounts staff. My role was to lend clerical assistance to take pressure off the team as a whole and ensure filing was up to date and data was inputted as soon as possible. Show less

    • Mason Hayes & Curran LLP

      May 2018 - Aug 2018
      Accounts Assistant

This was an excellent opportunity to work for the Summer at a top tier law firm in their accounts department. I worked as part of a team of twenty reporting to a line manager and the head of finance. My focus was on partner expenses and collating monthly information on the amounts spent, cross referencing those expenses with receipts and bank statements and liaising with my line manager to ensure reimbursements were processed. My duties also included communicating with partners secretaries to obtain further information or update the status of claims. I also was required to complete banking tasks. Due to the nature of the work excellent record keeping was essential. Completing work in a timely manner was at the fore front as we had to meet banking cut off times each day, however, tasks always had to be completed with the highest degree of accuracy. Show less

    • The Well Spring of Life Refuge

      Feb 2020 - May 2020
      Social Media Administrator

I enjoyed working in this fast paced and busy environment. During my time with the refuge, I completed several technical courses to improve my digital marketing skills. The attendees of the refuge were domestic violence victims coming at a time of huge personal crisis and distress. I was the first point of contact for these people at the refuge. In this regard my communication skills have been well honed as I had to ensure they felt safe and their concerns would be heard. These communication skills were also essential when replying to queries via email or creating content for the various refuge social media platforms. Show less
