      Freelance provenance researcher and facilitator for transcultural collaboration

      Funded by the Native Village of Eyak in Alaska, USA I will be working closely with indigenous communities and their knowledge-keepers of Alaska to research the provenance of Cultural Belongings housed in German Museums from their region and removed in the 1800s with a focus on the collection of the Ethnological Museum Berlin, which houses one of the largest collections of Eyak Cultural Belongings worldwide. The goal is to prepare an in-depth mapping of possible looting, theft, repressive colonial practices and human rights violations by collectors and advise communities in preparing claims of restitution. The process is collaborative, community-driven and rooted in indigenous research practices. Show less
