      The JET Program is a government funded education exchange program aimed at teaching English as a second language in Japan. I work as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) for the city of Miyazaki in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. I currently teach all grade levels from elementary through Junior High School. I am a teaching assistant and always teach in duo with either a classrooms homeroom teacher or designated English teacher. In this role i have the flexibility to enhance the basic curriculum by making relevant exercises and activities that will be more engaging to students. Through four years on the program i have not only learned a wide asset of skills regarding general lesson planning and student management, but also gained a deep understanding of Japanese business practice and work atmosphere. I am also conversationally fluent in Japanese, and currently hold JLPT N3 certification (soon to be N2 im sure!). My greatest skill in this position is the adaptability needed to teach a wide range of student demographics as well as a constantly changing ESL curriculum.       As Head Coach of the Youth Competitive Climbing team at Edgeworks Tacoma my primary job is to provide a supportive and constructive environment for youth climbers to reach their personal goals in climbing and competition. I create and manage employee schedules, create detailed fitness programming on and off the wall, attend weekly climbing competitions, and act as primary on-the-floor coach for our team. As a forerunner I primarily test, edit, and communicate desired route changes to the setting team to help provide consistent and engaging rock climbing routes in a commercial gym setting. I also have experience in performing maintenance duties such as rope checks, washing holds, and route stripping.As a shift lead I have been in charge providing customers coming into the gym with the best experience possible.
