    • Cecil Township, Pennsylvania

      Mar 1996 - Aug 1999
      Director of Planning

I proposed combining the township's zoning and subdivision ordinances into a Unified Development Ordinance, which was written in-house and later adopted. This Directorship position allowed wide initiative and flexibility to institute township firsts, such as acquisition and application of a Geographic Information System and diving into a Capital Improvements Program. Supervision extended to a staff of five. Mainstream duties were boilerplate typical, including coordination of grant applications, preparation of subdivision agreements and tracking of bonding, and serving as staff liaison for the Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board. • Johnson County, Indiana Department of Planning

      Aug 1999 - Nov 2003
      Director of Planning

We completed revision of the county's zoning and subdivision ordinances in-house, including all public presentations, to save the County about $140,000 and ensure insight was reflected in the product. My supervision extended to a staff of ten, including engineers, administrative assistants, planners, and building inspectors. Typical duties included completion of employee performance evaluations; management of department budget and presentation before County Council; interaction on a daily basis with residents, developers, officials, and State and Federal agencies; review of annexation ordinances for incorporated towns; subdivision plat and construction plan review; and coordination of county planning functions with eight incorporated jurisdictions. • City of Indianapolis

      Mar 2004 - Apr 2018
Project Manager in Sustainability and Long-Range Planning

During the months of January to April, 2018, I was the principal involved in bringing $1.176 million to the City of Indianapolis' Office of Sustainability though grant awards, sponsorship solicitations, and Energy Efficiency Community Block Grant repurposing. In 2017, I guided the City of Indianapolis' re-certification effort in the STAR Community Rating System to a score of 512, the 7th-highest score in the nation. I was privileged to be a Core Team member for Indianapolis’ first form-based zoning ordinance (per Indy Rezone) and am a seasoned and successful grant writer, just as comfortable doing that as facilitating a neighborhood land use meeting. Things green are right up my alley, as evidenced by years of experience managing a LEED certification effort for the City-County Building, administering a Green Building Incentive Program, and providing guidance for the Indy Food Council. Throw in application of GIS and presenting before formal bodies like a Metropolitan Development Commission, and you find a well-rounded chap. Show less

    • City of Noblesville Department of Planning and Development

      Jan 2019 - Jul 2022
      Senior Planner

As a Senior Planner, my duties included implementation of the Tasks recommended in the Comprehensive Plan, review of current planning applications for subdivisions and commercial development, grant-writing in collaboration with area non-profits, and furthering sustainability principles in a community new to the concepts. Presentation before public bodies was a regular feature, as was drafting of ordinance amendments and celebrating when a grant was awarded.
