  Volunteering led to full time paid temporary employment for summer (April-mid September) whilst I was off University. I helped produce 8 annual large corporate events with attendee numbers in the thousands, including dinners, quizzes, award ceremonies, cultural, music, entertainment, and sporting events. My role involved; communicating with professional clients and agencies via emails, phone, online platforms and hosting meetings, extensive relationship management and consumer retention, GDPR compliance, event documentation, ticketing, and bookings, working alongside celebrities, guest speakers and hosts, managing event boards and committees, sourcing event sponsorships and partnerships, booking venues, creating dually beneficial contracts, budgeting and financing, managing social media and websites, recruiting volunteers, post event feedback, working at the events themselves, and much more. I was the Event Manager of the Clickety Chicks 2018 event at the age of just 19, and I raised £36,000 – a £12,000 increase from the 2017 event. Our Sports Dinner event raised £108,000, and The Gleneagles Golf Day event raised over £90,000. All events received exceptional feedback, and I remained professional whilst working on these high-profile events. I can successfully develop and run a programme of events over the same period by methodically prioritising my workload.   Based in the whisky region of Campbeltown, working in the Visitor Centre at Glen Scotia Distillery. Carrying out daily tasks within the office and shop; including communicating with staff and visitors, financing, managing bookings, dealing with stock, orders and more. I also helped to organise and run successful events including a wedding party, the Whisky Dinner, and the annual Malts Festival and Distillery Open Day. This role allowed me to use my language skills to connect with tourists from all over the world whilst conducting in depth tours of the Distillery. This role has inspired me to return to Glen Scotia and continue my work in the whisky industry, and for my final year of my Bachelor of Arts degree I have chosen to conduct my Dissertation on Glen Scotia and focus on the whisky events and attractions within Campbeltown.   I have hosted different tours and gin tastings, planned a variety of events both at the distillery and off-site using local suppliers, helped to integrate the distillery and accommodation businesses, worked on COVID assessments and training, sourced and ordered all equipment and supplies for new facilities, prepared event spaces, and created ideas for future events to make a calendar of events for BAT. I assist guests and visitors to the area and recommend where to go, things to do, and places to eat and drink. I create itineraries for guests so that they can explore as much of the area as possible. Unfortunately, due to COVID19 many of my planned events could not take place. I adapted quickly and used my initiative to create a range of virtual gin and cocktail tastings and started selling both private virtual events and public ticketed virtual events. I oversee all enquiries and bookings and I manage these databases, from sourcing and sending supplies, communicating and building relationships with customers, to leading the virtual events, and I strive to do my upmost for attendees to ensure the best event experience with myself and BAT. I have increased BAT’s following across social media, gaining almost 2000 followers since Christmas with my events, giveaways and competition ideas. I have done a lot of work on emphasising our sustainability and environmentally friendly efforts, our carbon footprint, and minimising food wastage and mileage, to showcase this to guests. As I am a team player within the workplace, I go beyond my role and responsibilities and have learned distillation techniques and training in order to assist my colleagues. Experiential events and tourism is a huge part of my role, and Gin School courses and Residential Gin School courses will hopefully begin in May 2021 - I will be hosting these events to teach guests how to make and blend their very own gin, providing a unique an immersive experience for visitors.   Managing Visitor Centre staff and tour guides, controlling stock, finances, and daily tour and tasting schedules. Introducing new tour and tasting offerings and securing new products for the shop. Hosting a variety of annual events at the distillery for both public and private guests, and building strong relationships with clients. This role entails working as a Brand Ambassador at the local heart of the brand, and connecting with fans of the brand through a strong social media presence. Carrying out daily tasks within the office and shop; including communicating with staff and visitors, leading whisky tastings and distillery tours, financing, managing bookings, merchandise orders and more. I also assist in the Event Management of planning and running our successful annual Whisky Dinner and Campbeltown Malts Festival Distillery Open Day. The ongoing management and responsibility of our distillery online booking system also lies with me. Show less
