      Activities and Societies: I founded the International Education Student Association in the College of Education. I also worked part time as a graduate assistant for four years and full time in a professional position while ABD for six years. I successfully defended my doctoral thesis titled "Education for All Priorities in the Education Policies of Bolivia and Mexico." Classes covered such topics as history of education, philosophy of teaching and learning, sociology of education, education equity, college access, educational quality, education in developing countries, and international education testing.

      Activities and Societies: I worked full time for agencies servicing the developmentally disabled and at-risk youth. My Bachelor's degree was a double major in International Affairs and Philosophy. International Affairs taught me much about politics, economics, history, and international relations. The study of Philosophy helped prepare me for the rigors of graduate school by improving my reasoning and writing skills.

      Activities and Societies: I worked full time as a paraprofessional in a local elementary school. This Master's degree program combined the general study of education with a teaching program that culminated in an application to the state of Colorado for a Secondary Social Studies License. The Education classes are broad including politics and education, sociology, history of education, education psychology, english language learning, and arts in education.

      This project produced a pilot database for a global warehouse of information on secondary education reform modeled on the World Data on Education project (http://www.ibe.unesco.org). • Authored a report that included recommendations about creating a data warehouse on secondary education reform policies.• Conducted archival research of a large body of national education policies and laws.• Designed and developed a pilot database designed to organize data on secondary education reform.       Classrooms for the Future (CFF) is a program that former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell sponsored in 2006 that provided over $200 million in technology resources and training to Pennsylvania classrooms. We also evaluated the Enhancing Education through Technology program in Pennsylvania. Title IID of ESEA is a federal program that allocated grants to states for the development of educational technology resources. • Acted as manager for confidential data collection activities of over 750,000 student surveys, 62,000 teacher surveys, 7200 observations of classroom practice, and 350 administrator interviews. • Co-authored twelve evaluation reports about a school reform initiative.• Conducted in depth literature reviews and case studies about the policy implications of the program on school districts.• Conducted outreach to 900 schools and the PA Department of Education.• Contributed to funded proposals that provided an average project budget of $160,000 for six years.• Designed and coordinated the development of a complex data management system. • Effective professional development facilitator of in-person and webinar workshops.• Experienced at aligning research studies with Institutional Review Board requirements.• Experienced at creating and refining data collection instruments.• Managed six project proposals, project budgets, and work breakdown structures to ensure timely deliverables.       My role as project manager of the HELPS Lab (Department of Political Sciences) involved managing the day-to-day operations of a research laboratory that specializes in data collection about human subjects: primarily surveys, interviews, and focus groups. The duties of the position include.- Collaborating with others in the following management activities: invoicing, account resolution, financial reports, and relationships with vendors.- Coordinated data collection in the fields of agricultural extension, business, health and human development, and political science.- Monthly budget activities including processing monthly invoices for clients, approving time on task for each employee, monitoring accounts receivable, and accounts payable tracking.- Primary research, Coordinated large scale online and mail surveys, conducted focus groups, and participated in six interview studies.       The Montana SLDS is a National Center for Education Statistics sponsored program (2009-2025) which focuses on the management and reporting of state data (e.g., enrollment, assessment, and employee data): https://ies.ed.gov/funding/grantsearch/details.asp?ID=3362. • Lead research and dissemination tasks about school level poverty measures and workforce outcomes.• Implementation of research agenda for the OPI including tasks related to the Education and the Workforce Data Governing Board (HB 949).• Coordination of research related datasets for posting to the Open Science Framework• Monitoring of IT tasks such as migration of SLDS data into a data lake (cloud environment), in-tegration of platforms with Snowflake, and translation of SLDS online portal into Power School Unified Insights platform.• Related administrative tasks such as budget modification, project plan changes, drawdowns, and proposal writing. This technical report is combined with an analysis of student outcomes for completion of the grant requirements. Articles are in review in policy related publications, including an accepted article by the American School Board Journal. Show less • 2019 Recipient, Governor’s Award for Excellence in Performance.• Duties include independent research projects (internal and external), the coordination of data requests (public right to know) and research requests, support for SLDS public interface (GEMS: https://gems.opi.mt.gov), program outreach, conference planning, and SLDS marketing.• The Montana SLDS received a supplemental grant ($250,000) to investigate alternative poverty measures. Independently completed articles on three levels of analysis (state, locale, and within communities by locale) using Montana data for eight alternative poverty measures. Fulfilled grant requirements. Three articles have been published.• Assisted with federal reporting activities including Annual Performance Review, SLDS survey, and project plans.• Completed longitudinal research about student achievement (Smarter Balanced Interim Assessments) and Native student achievement and voice.• Contract liaison to eleven contracts. Activities included processing Request for Non-Employee Services materials (sourcing) and contractor invoices.• Firm believer in public right to know and transparency of data. Processed 464 data requests using SQL and SPSS to manage complex state education data, enabling public and researcher access to data. Show less
