  Engineering Trainee - Subdivision and Planning

  The City of Gosnells is a local government area in the southeastern suburbs of Perth's Western Australian capital city, located northwest of Armadale and about 17 kilometres southeast of Perth's central business district. Over the past 12 weeks, I have been lucky enough to get involved in various projects in the subdivision and Engineering Designs in the City of Gosnells. It was exciting to learn about the fundamental techniques, Australian standards, and software (Trapeze, Civil 3D and XPStorm) related to subdivision and infrastructure planning procedures. I had a great time working with such a diverse and fantastic group of people who embody the City of Gosnell's key values. Subdivision Engineering• Experience in using Windows-based office software, digital annotation software such as Trapeze and ECM and P&R software used for record-keeping for easy access to old data and to create a link between the applications and the related data. • Manage, Assess and prepare reports for Subdivision Certifications, including reviewing Zoning certificates.• Assist with inspection of public infrastructure, driveways and drainage designs and construction on Infill and Greenfield subdivisions.• Reviewing Subdivision Engineering Drawings with an urban water management plan (UWMP) and checking the plans with the geotechnical report.Engineering Designs • Detailed Modelling of stormwater and flood management projects using XPStorm Software (Kilmeston court Maddington flood issue). • Undertake site inspections for new drainage infrastructures and respond to existing flooding inquiries.Operation and Maintenance• Undertake site visits for ongoing development projects and complaints from residents related to drainage issues and failures. • Attend technical discussions regarding the upcoming development of the stormwater drainage system of the city council.• Identified the recurring drainage issues in consecutive years and prepared an Excel document for easy access.
