  In conjunction with OSCAR's Undergraduate Research Program, I've had the tremendous opportunity to work alongside Dr. David Holmes from George Mason's Department of Statistics. We embarked on several research projects in stylometry - the statistical analysis of literary style. The discipline of stylometry can accomplish remarkable feats such as attribute authorship to disputed works, quantify an author’s lexical richness over time, and detect plagiarism with surprising accuracy. Through this experience I've become increasing familiar with statistical research, natural language processing (NLP), cleaning textual data, and programming with Python and R. Show less

  The George Mason American Statistical Association was proud to once again attend Datafest 2018, hosted by Summit Consulting LLC! The event always gives us a fantastic, real-world experience to handle big data with the aim to discover and present meaningful insights. Our team felt incredibly honored to win "Best Data Visualization" with a presentation on how Registered Nurses can better connect with employers through Indeed.

  I would like to congratulate our team, Patriot One, for winning Capital One's Apache Spark + AI Innovation award on October 27th, 2018! And of course, the entire team thanks Capital One, Databricks, and Apache Spark for holding the competition and allowing us to present our research on "Combating Human Trafficking using Spark+AI Technology".
