      One of three Directors of the annual madiSTEM Conference at JMU. A one-day STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) event designed for girls in grades 6-8 that is designed to foster and support the participants' interest in STEM fields, to increase their awareness of opportunities in STEM-related careers, and to empower them to see themselves as future participants in these fields and careers. The day includes hands-on workshops from a wide variety of STEM disciplines, two keynote addresses, and lunch with JMU STEM majors. Each year, the conference involves approximately 215 student participants, 90 accompanying parents and teachers, 100 JMU student volunteers, and 40 JMU faculty and staff volunteers.Involved in all aspects of conference organization.Recruited and coached presenters. Doubled the number of workshops. Developed conference procedures and materials. Led organizational planning. Coordinated efforts of leadership and advisory teams. Communicated with stakeholders.
