  Performed assorted Unix system administration tasks on 80+ RHEL, NetBSD, and OS X/macOS machines. Proficient with Unix command line interface and utilities, Perl, tcsh, and sh/bash. Diagnose platform interactions, performance, and security issues across heterogeneous systems. Analyzed unskilled problem descriptions; formulated and tested hypotheses to provide solutions.Primary administrator for RSA SecurID, Shibboleth identity provider (IdP), Duo Security, Snort and Bro IDSs, and InCommon Certificate Service. Maintained ISU's public web service infrastructure supporting over 20,000 users and business units, serving pages out of an AFS-backed network file system. Developed CGI tools for searching web logs and generating usage reports. Deployed an SFTP service using RHEL and SELinux, providing client access to websites stored in AFS.Worked with a team to maintain a wide variety of interconnected infrastructure services, mastered from a system management server (moirad, Ingres), including authentication (Kerberos), directories (LDAP, hesiod), authorization (accessd), name service (DNS, ISC BIND, ISC DHCPd), email (SMTP, Sendmail, G Suite), monitoring (Xymon), and logging (syslog, Splunk).Served as a Registration Authority Officer (RAO) for ISU's instance of the InCommon Certificate Service. Validated and submitted SSL, client signing/encryption, and code signing certificate requests. Supported ISU community with certificate request and deployment issues.Wrote custom tests for the Xymon network monitor to check and report status of GNU Mailman queues, RAID controller status, DNS blacklist status of core mail servers, Splunk license usage, status of cloud services (Google, Box, Apple), and numerous others.
