  I was selected by senior staff to act as a tutor for first year mathematics students, providing individual and group help at weekly tutorials in order for all students to complete weekly tasks and exercises. I was also required to mark and provide cohesive feedback on these students' work to both the students themselves and the module leaders.

  Bar Staff

  As a member of the bar staff I had constant interaction with the general public and was required to provide a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. I was responsible for serving hot and cold food and drinks, as well as fulfilling cleaning duties in accordance with health and safety standards. I also gained experience of handling money and working an electric till, and ensuring strong teamwork and multitasking skills to provide a quality service during busy periods.

  Mathematics Tutor

  I tutored four students at GCSE and A Level standard, providing personal guidance for each student in order to fit their needs and varying abilities. I provided coherent and thorough feedback for exercises and mock examinations, as well as communicating in a friendly and encouraging manner. I worked with the students and their parents to set reasonable goals in terms of grade attainment, and to periodically assess progress and recognise the strengths and weaknesses of both the student’s work, as well as my tutoring methods, and adapt appropriately.
