      Undertook the coordinated dietetics undergraduate program which combines theory and practice. Successful completion of the degree enabled qualification for registration as a Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association, and further enabled registration with the Zimbabwe Health Professions Council to practice as a dietitian.

      • Planned and supervised implementation of national community nutrition programs and institutional dietetics services in consultation with the Director. • Spearheaded the Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Program. Zimbabwe pioneered the elimination of iodine deficiency within the sub-region. Achievements were mainly due to public-private partnerships, a functional monitoring system and involvement of key agencies such as UNICEF, WHO and the International Council on the Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders of which I was the Sub-Regional Coordinator.• Catalyzed development of food fortification pilot projects such as Fortification of Staple Food at Hammer Mill Level, Commercial Maize Meal Fortification through collaborative work with non-governmental organizations such as Micronutrient Initiative, Care Zimbabwe, UNICEF, WHO and partnerships with companies such as Blue Ribbon Foods, National Foods, Makonde Industries and Roche. Developed various print, television and radio media strategies promoting food fortification. • Developed policy guidelines for the Child Supplementary Feeding Program as the Nutrition Specialist member of the Drought Management and Civil Protection Committee.• Coordinated Infant Feeding Program. Drew policy guidelines for the two main associations Zimbabwe Infant Nutrition Network and La Leche League Zimbabwe. Trained as a Baby Friendly Hospital Initiatives Assessor and assessed four major hospitals to qualify as trainer of trainers.• Co-ordinated the Staff Development Program. All staff attended individual specific courses with more than three quarters obtaining Master’s degrees mainly funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. Show less
