    • Netherlands Helsinki Committee

      Sept 2018 - Oct 2019
      Junior Communications Associate

The NHC is an NGO based in The Hague that focuses on issues of human rights, the rule of law and civil society in OSCE states, particularly in Eastern/Southern Europe and Central Asia. This role involved researching and writing news articles for the NHC website. These pieces focused on both the organisations specific projects and relevant news events – notably in human rights and the rule of law – from within the NHCs area of operation.- I was also responsible for much of the organisations social media output and Search Engine Optimisation. - I also reviewed articles (for both content and quality) submitted for publication in the Security and Human Rights Journal, a NHC publication focusing on the intersection between security and human rights, specifically in OSCE states. • United Nations Human Rights

      Apr 2021 - Sept 2021
      Media Section Intern

An internship with OHCHR’s media and spokesperson team in Geneva. Successfully worked alongside a group of highly experienced former journalists, often in a high-pressure environment to strict deadline. Commended for my performance and the added value that I bought to the team. During this period I: - Produced press clippings on breaking human rights stories, sent on a daily basis to all OHCHR staff. - Conducting targeted research in preparation for bi-weekly press conferences, including detailed briefs on breaking human rights stories, country and conflict profiles, and press coverage summaries. - Accurately edited press products immediately prior to release to the international media. - Responded to media requests, archived media products, produced monthly analysis of press coverage and engagement, and helped to edit longer human rights reports (including the High Commissioner's much awaited report on systemic racism). • Freelance

      Nov 2021 - Sept 2023
      Researcher, writer, and analyst

Working freelance as a writer, researcher, and analyst, publishing both in my own name and completing research consultancies with non-profits and NGOs. Published with both respected think tanks and international media outlets. Writing focuses on contemporary conflict and human rights abuses. Proven track record of producing engaging and impactful pieces on the protracted conflicts in Syria, Myanmar, DRC, CAR, and Ukraine. See for example: - Russia's campaign of Urbicide in Ukraine (Newlines Institute for Strategy & Policy) - Supping with the Kremlin Devil: The Red Cross Dilemma (Center for European Policy Analysis) Provide research and analytical services to NGOs, non-profits, and private interests within the sustainable investment sector, including accurate and insightful conflict analysis, and ESG-focused supply chain risk assessments for businesses considering investment/projects within conflict affected or fragile environments. See for example: - Swiss Better Gold Association (SBGA): SBGA is a non-profit partnered with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs. It aims to improve conditions and human rights standards in artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) communities. Undertook extensive desk-based research on the ASM context in Ghana, with a specific focus on human rights and ESG related risks within the complex local (often unregulated) gold supply chain.
