  Brittany served as an occupational therapist completing direct treatment and consultation to over 50 children between 13 schools in the city of St. Louis as a new graduate. Brittany worked with children living with varying abilities. Children ranged from ages 3-18 with various medical and educational diagnoses. Brittany used play and occupation as a primary vehicle for rehabilitation and habilitation of the children served.

  For a brief moment in time, Brittany served as an Occupational Therapist for a travel company called Comp Health. She was hired as a Lead OT for St. Francis Health Center on an inpatient unit working closely with Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants. Brittany serviced many patients with strokes, knee injuries, general weakness, low vision difficulties, and many more diagnoses. Brittany integrated well with the therapy team of of occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech language pathologists, and more over time. She was offered a full time position at the facility as the managing supervisors commented positively about teamwork, precision, creativity, and compassion with clients. Show less

  Brittany served as an Occupational Therapist and case manager to veterans in the St. Louis area who were actively unhoused. As apart of the HUD VASH team, Brittany was tasked with helping veterans transition from homelessness to housing using an occupational perspective. Brittany assessed and evaluated veterans' ability to live safely and independently and collaborated with licensed clinical social workers to ensure safe community living was possible. Brittany's contribution to the team included life skills groups, community integration outings, cooking groups, and more. Brittany was nominated and earned a Civility Star for outstanding work with a veteran in hospice care during end of life care. Show less

  Occupational Therapist

  Brittany provided pre and post release Occupational Therapy services to clients who were incarcerated in two city jails with a team of Occupational Therapists, students, researchers, etc. The program is called the Occupational Therapy Transition and Integration Services under the overarching Transformative Justice Initiative at Saint Louis University. Brittany contributed to program development and program evaluation of the pioneering practice, as this is considered an emerging area of practice in Occupational Therapy.   Brittany transitioned into the world of entrepreneurship in October 2018 with a vision to start her first business. Optimistic Theory provides accessible and preventative mental health services. This includes, but is not limited to, businesses, business travelers, creatives, corporations, entrepreneurs, co-working spaces, etc. Services offered include coaching, one to one therapy, workshops, workplace evaluations, pre and post travel assessments, and more.
