My project was to investigate how signals from bone marrow microenvironment contributes to survival of multiple myeloma cancer cells. In Accordance with this aim, we were interested in a particular phosphatase called PRL-3, which has been shown to be expressed by multiple myeloma cells in response to bone marrow microenvironment stimulus and enhances multiple myeloma cell survival. My focus was to find out what singling pathways are responsible for increased survival mediated by PRL-3.

Work as a scientific advisor for the new research group members and help them with their projects. Led the project entitled "PRL-3 induces a positive signaling circuit between glycolysis and activation of STAT1/2 signaling" PRL-3 is a protein that is classified as a phosphatase enzyme. This phosphatase is highly expressed in multiple myeoma cancer cells and increases survial. My focus was to examine how PRL-3 modulates the turnover of important metabolites in the cells, and thereby contributes to its oncogenic role.
